And it's not that Jubi wants to hurt her, it's just she gets so excited, and wants to hold her so close!

The Day At Grandma Jenny's Place

It started out with all of us checking out the wii they have set up for the residents were Grandma lives.

Blu, one of the only people in our family who has used one, was full of instruction. :P

This game is a little hazardous for toddlers. Jubi kept getting in the way of our swinging arms. Speaking of arms, mine are now aching and it's KILLING me!

Apparently playing on the wii had not zapped all of the children's energy, because after lunch they ran around tossing frisbees to and at each other.

Then, it was time to relax for awhile....

Had some jelly beans.

Then we all piled in the van, leaving Dad, Mom and Grandma behind, picked up a couple boxes of frozen treats and then headed to a park.

I wonder what the average age of children is, when food on their face starts to bother them.

Found Vi's shoe down the road a bit.

Unfortunately there is a bit of trash. Susi and I are thinking we should take some bags with us next time, and then send what we can to the recycling center.

Yes, those are two white bags of trash someone apparently dumped. Why!

The majority of the cans lying around are beer cans. Susi and I thought it would be an interesting study to keep track of how many of each Coors, Budweiser, and Busch cans there were. Pointless, but interesting.

Had a nice sandwich when we got back.

My hair was half way down my back, and I love the look of long hair, but it was plain old getting my in way! Getting caught behind my back when I sit in the car, takes at least twice and long to brush or wash, etc, etc. I also can't stand sleeping with my hair touching my face, but it was getting so long that I couldn't just flip it out of the way. So, after I cut Susi's hair for her this last month, it got me in mood to make a change for myself.

Little Jubi is so good about taking naps. The only thing she'll fuss about is if she can't get at her bottle. Sometimes she'll just lie down all on her own, but there is always someone there in a second to cuddle a little with her.

CLT 2009: The Dance

How we managed to take so many grainy photos over the weekend, I do not know.
This is just as we got to the top of the stairs. The Dancing had already started, Susi is watching and trying to not make funny faces. She has the hardest time staying still for photos. I usually have to snap ones without her knowing.

Everyone was in two big circles, the ladies all in one, inside the circle of gentleman. Of course there was a rather bad shortage of men, so rather then just sitting around, ladies often danced together. Anyway, each couple would do some particular steps, and then the ladies in the inner circle would all move over to the next person in the outer circle. I like these dance, they seem to be simpler than others. Simple is good for me.

After that dance was done we all jumped into the next one, and I put my camera down and I am sorry to say that it stayed there.

Turns out you can really work up a sweat dancing. Later Susi and I headed out onto the front porch to cool off. And Kaja happend to already be out there and snapped one of the only photos of me dressed out. And the only one I was willing to post. It's a good view of my backside.

Well, the crisp air outside soon revived Susi. She and Kaja did some more dancing.

Eventually we headed back inside and danced one more dance. But then we all had to get ready for the tours that evening.

CLT 2009: Day One

Okay, well I did a really bad job of getting everyones photos taken, the first day I didn't do any. Everything was just a little crazy.
But, Abi did go out and take a few with Maddi.

CLT 2009: Dance Practice

Susi and I headed over to Wal-Mart in the morning, and when we got back we found our other siblings and a couple friends up in the Grand Hall being shown how to waltz by a fellow re-enactor who specializes in period correct dancing. They tried to show me what they had learned.

Here is Susi learning first hand.

Dancing takes quite a bit of coordination. We all practiced for the dance that afternoon. It wasn't very pretty, but we kept at it. Maybe next year we'll all be able to dance with out making complete fools of ourselves. (Not that that's a bad thing)

Jubi has a particular attachment to Susi. And vice-versa.

With past babies, I (Rebecca) was second only to Mom.

There are pros and cons. When I was the most desired big sister, I was the one wanted (if Mom wasn't available) when they were tired and cranky. So now with Jubi, it's Susi she wants. So that's nice.....I think. Sometimes she reaches for Blu rather then me. I don't really like that. Babies!

It started out just being Ellie, Vi, and Lib playing with the dough, but...

soon the other girls joined in. At least the ones who didn't mind getting sticky dough all over their fingers.

The time of the year when I actually enjoy going outdoors. Sweater weather.

The following contraption was constructed by Ellie, she said initially the sheet was intend to be climbed up, but after tying a knot at the bottom, it dawned on her it might make a nice swing.

I'd call it a success, both Lib and Vi wanted turns.

Meanwhile, Jube was trying to climb this ladder.

Then she toddled around the yard. I tried to get her attention, and this was the look she gave.

Susi started tossing leaves into the air.

She thought that was funny.

Vi loves getting in on any photos. And I think all this excitement is making little Jube tired.

When Grandma and Grandpa came down from MN we spent a day sight-seeing the local attractions :D

The nature center was really neat, they had so many cool things to look at :D Real live snakes, turtles, frogs, bees, black widows, tarantulas!!! (Did you know they have black widows and tarantulas in Kansas!! :P) The park is cool too! There's a cave, creek and trails.

Jubi Update!

Adorable! I know that I'm probably biased, but can anyone deny it! Of course you have to be able to kiss and cuddle her to know really how completely captivating she is.

Also, just for your information, the shirt she is wearing, reads 24 months on the label, and those jeans, 2T. Currently she has only been outside her mother for 6.5 months. She's picked up the nickname "Heavy Duty".

It didn't turn out quite as nice as I would've liked, gets kinda loose in some areas. But not to bad, considering how long I've been doing this.

I usually do a few of the little girls hair in the morning, and I've been practicing french braids lately.
When Violet's turn came, she had a special request. It took a little while for me to understand exactly what she wanted, but when she said "like a crown" it clicked.

I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to make this work, I had really only seen Abi do it a couple times before.

But I think it turned out pretty nice, and I think Violet liked it too.

I should have taken a photo of her thighs, because they're amazingly thick.

So far, there hasn't been any sign that our daily praise of her adorableness is going to her head.

If she had realized that there was something on her head, she'd probably have had it off in a second, and right into her mouth.

I don't think she really knows what we were doing, more likely excited because she wants to get her hands on the camera, and well you know what next.

Last Monday a storm blew through and did a number on our van, and one of the trailers. I guess it said on the news that the wind got up to 75mph in some places. Tree limbs, leaves and twigs were everywhere.

Poor Aunt Fanny (we name our vehicles), she has served us well.

She trusted us to park her in a safe place, and look what happened. We're not sure if she is repairable, or if it's worth it.

And here is the trailer.

So far, we have repaired the roof outside, but it is still to be decided what would be the best way to patch that up.

This photo kinda gives me the willies, like the branch is reaching in. Maybe it's the angle of the photo.

Dad got this trampoline at an auction, I would say at least a couple years ago now. The 5 younger children spend hours on the thing. Though personally it's lost it's charm, its ability to amuse the little ones is not wasted on me. I consider it one of our best auction finds.

Mom and Dad both have blue eyes, which makes if genetically impossible (I think) for them to have children with any other eye color. And as you can see, so far it has been true. Though we all have varying shades.
Kaja is supposed to be between Blu and Maddi (the first two on the left, in the second row) but when her turn came she refused to pose. So I said "Whatever". I had a bit of a headache, and wasn't in the mood to try and persuade her.

She changes so quickly, nearly 3 months old now!
Her neck has gotten steadily stronger, and she does like to look around. She's started grabbing and holding on. Though I'd say that most of the time she doesn't realize there is anything in her hand. She has also started to slobber on things. Such as ones shoulder, her own fists, or maybe Mom's thumb. Whatever she can get close enough to. The only thing she seems to have an unreasonable dislike too, is bathing. Which is entirely the opposite of how Liberty was, Lib loved to lay in the tub and swish and splash. But Jubi does not enjoy it. It's the only thing she really cries about. Outside of that, she's a terribly happy baby.

I can not describe the feelings that swell in the depths of my heart, or soul, inside of me, when I look at her.

She doesn't actually cry very often, usually she just starts grunting and we all come running.

Liberty calls Juby "sisser baby". (thats not a spelling error, Lib doesn't pronounce her "T" very well)

At about 5 in the morning, on the day she was delivered, I went to wake up the younger girls, And they asked right away "Girl or boy!?" (why else would I be waking them in the middle of the night!) So, when I stated "Girl!", they started to lament jokingly, "Noooo, not another girl!". Then after they calmed down a bit, and I started to get them out of bed, Kaja asked "So? What is it?" I was a little confused but stated again that is was a girl. "Oh, I thought you were joking" was her reply.

This may be more information then you really want, but whenever she has to poop, she tightens up her fists and holds them up near her chin. Which is the cutest thing to all of us.

Candle Light Tour, 2008

Earlier this month Susi, Blu, Kaja, and I participated in the 27th annual Candle Light Tour, at the Fort, in Fort Scott. It goes on for two evenings. Each night we have 10+ tours, depending on how many tickets sell.
On the actual tour, the visitors follow a tour leader around the fort, accompanied by tour followers (which are volunteers, who are there to help anyone who needs it, point out tripping hazzards, etc.) and they will stop at scenes in various places. Susi played a bride in one scene, She was Miss Jamima Roach, getting married to a Sargent, which I cannot remember the name of. It was played out in a supposed court house.

Of course if you know Susi, you could guess that she was a nervous wreck. The first time she got up there in front of the "Justice of the Peace", she had began to wonder what she had gotten into. The visitors were supposed to leave soon after the actual wedding started, but she said, she was often waiting up there on pins and needles because the visitors would lag behind, apparently not wanting the leave right in the middle of the ceremony.

Blu, Kaja, and I were tour followers. Which is fun to do, because we get to see each scene, were if you are in one then you will most likely not get to see any other of them.

We call her Jubilee Pearl, she has brown hair and blue eyes. Weighed 7.65 and is 19 inches long (which is on the small side for us). She arrived on [11/11] AD 2008 at approximately 4:11.

New Door!

Well, new to us. We put in another entrance/exit located in the back of the house. Dad found a used door locally on craigslist.org for 30 bucks.

When we woke up, it seemed that a cloud had settled right on top of our house.

A misty, moisty morning.

The carpenter, Jonathan, showed up at about 7:30 and hoped to be able hang this door and the two located on Mom's studio (not pictured), But we didn't get the camera out before Susi was put to work, removing the siding.

And then it got put away until after we started to put the siding back on.

Blu helped with the whole project, I hope he remembers everything, we may have some more doors to hang.

Maddi Jo's job was to keep an eye on everything.

This is Jonathan. He learned lot about our Lawton life. He seemed to have a nice time (sometimes it takes a person a minute to get over the initial "run away!" feeling).

Regarding the animals

We had to go chase the goats out of the north field, and I thought I'd take a few photos along the way, give you a little idea of what going on in regards to the animals.

Between the house and the White Barn we have a couple simple bridges, they don't serve much purpose this time of the year, but in the late winter and spring they are essential, many a boots have almost been lost to the never ending depths of the muck that develops here.

We just use them for fun now.

Blu has a couple pigeons that hang around the barn and.....well they poop on everything. There is a lot of different kinds of poop up there. I kinda stay away from the barn.

Liberty's short legs do not lend themselves to brisk walking.

But she doesn't seem to mind lagging behind.

Maddi Jo wasn't pleased with what her sister Kaja had to say, this is when she decided to head home.
And behind her you can see the goat herd, which has been greatly minimized over the summer. Been doing some culling. That sounds kinda cruel. We sold all the angoras that weren't either light red or white, and all the dairy-angoras mixes.

These are our three cows. The one in the middle is the mother of the one on the right, and that one, is the mother of the one on the left. They kinda go in order of color intensity.

Annebelle (the grandma) is the milk cow. The other two are not real friendly, but she is..........though...it may be that she's just looking for a snack.

She's is a much loved cow.
